The exhibition displayed a full year's study of the 5th and 6th graders in Graphic Design at the "Alon"
Elementary School. The aim is to expose the pupils to the function of Graphic Design, which, is unlike
plastic art takes into consideration the customers and their needs. The pupils are exposed to a variety
of roles and terms in this field. From the concept which is created by the copywriter, to the actual work
done by the graphic designer. The pupils experienced these terms and functions when they carried out a
"logo project". In the project the pupils created their own logo and personal cards. They could present
themselves as either designers or pupils. They also designed posters with specific purposes such as
anti -drug campaigns including an appropriate slogan. In addition to that, they prepared a commercial
flyer which could market a product or places. They had to explain why they had chosen it. Finally they
had to design a commercial shopping bag from scratch creating it to suit the product and advertising the
retail shops. The pupils have acquired, a feeling for graphic thinking and acquired the need for accuracy
in rendering a commercial message. They enjoyed mostly the innovation and versatility of studying
Graphic Design. The beautiful results are shown at the exhibition.
The exhibition opens on May 30th and would remain open until June 10th at the "Artsac" Gallery in Castra.
