Description
In photographs and written commentary, the Museum presents the historic events that befell Europe following the Nazis’ advent to power in Germany and the fate of the Jews under Nazi rule in the occupied countries. Exhibition themes include the ghettoes, extermination camps, mass murders, Jewish response, ghetto uprisings, partisans, survivors and clandestine immigration to Palestine. The Hall of Names perpetuates the memories of millions of Holocaust victims on Pages of Testimony filled out by friends and family, Yizkor (memorial) books prepared by fellow brethren from those communities, and lists of Holocaust victims prepared in Western European countries. The Art Museum houses both permanent and visiting exhibitions of artworks produced in the camps and ghettoes during and after the Holocaust. Additional site include the Children’s Memorial to the 1.5 million Jewish children who perished in the Holocaust.
