Description
"This is the story of a people
which was scattered
throughout all the world and yet
remained a single family…" (Abba Kovner)
A remarkable combination of images, exhibits, models, sounds and a unique database, combining genealogy, communities, family names, Jewish music, documentaries, films and photographs, enables Beit Hatfutsot, the Museum of the Jewish People, to tell the unique and ongoing story of the Jewish people throughout the ages and around the world.
The permanent exhibition is divided into six sections, each of which represent a specific area of Jewish life, which together enabled a nation, scattered around the world for 4,000 years, to keep its unique nature, traditions, heritage and values. These sections include Family, Community, Faith, Culture, Living Among the Nations and Return to Zion.
The spacious, ground floor lobby is home to The Center for Jewish Arts and Culture. The center includes temporary exhibitions galleries, displaying exhibitions on various subjects and disciplines such as Jewish communities, photography, Jewish and Israeli art; the Bnai Zion and Rebecca and Jacob Zeevi Auditoriums for cultural events and conferences ; a gift shop offering Beit Hatfutsot mementos, CDs, catalogues and books, Judaica and jewelry, ceramic tableware and embroidery and postcards ; Aroma Coffee Shop
